Google/Gemini via OpenRouter

There is no native Google option

This guide uses OpenRouter, an option that is actually present in the extension. It does not configure a Google AI Studio key nor validate direct access to the Google API.

Step by step

1. Create an OpenRouter key and confirm the account limits, following the OpenRouter guide.
2. In the OpenRouter catalog, look for a Google Gemini model with tools. Also check image support if you want to send captures.
3. Copy the full identifier, starting with google/, exactly as it appears in the catalog. IDs can change and not every variant supports the same capabilities.
4. In Settings → LLM Model, select OpenRouter, not Custom.
5. Fill in the model and the OpenRouter key. The endpoint remains https://openrouter.ai/api/v1/chat/completions.
6. Save, test the connection and review the capabilities. The test can be billed.
7. Try a request without actions and check the provider/model on the receipt.

Who receives the data?

The request is sent to OpenRouter and forwarded to the model’s provider, according to that service’s options and policies. It is not a direct connection only to Google. If this route does not suit your data policy, choose a local model.
