Connect Anthropic

1. Open the Anthropic console and create an API key. Confirm balance, permissions and model access; a Claude chat subscription does not guarantee API access.
2. Open Settings → LLM Model and select Anthropic.
3. Copy the exact identifier of a Claude model available on your account and with tools. Do not assume the extension’s old or future suggestions are available.
4. Keep the fixed endpoint https://api.anthropic.com/v1/messages.
5. Enter the full key in the sk-ant-… format.
6. Click Save and Test connection. The test performs requests and can consume balance.
7. First test a summary without actions, then a simple task in a safe environment.

Particularities

Browser Mate uses the Messages format, not Chat Completions. It sends the version and direct browser access headers required for this route. That does not make the key safe on a shared device: protect the browser profile and never publish the key.

The current Anthropic route does not use the same text streaming as the OpenAI adapter. A response that appears all at once does not necessarily imply a failure.

If it doesn’t work

Check the key, the model name, account limits and tool support. On network errors, review the endpoint’s policies instead of trying to modify the fixed URL. See the Anthropic privacy terms and the Privacy page.
